Lifestyle Changes

If you experience ongoing erectile dysfunction, you may be able to improve your condition by making some small, yet impactful, lifestyle changes. And, for those men who may not have ED but are at high risk for developing it, taking preventative measures today can ensure a healthier tomorrow.

Quit Smoking

Smoking cigarettes can lead to cardiovascular disease and hardening of the arteries, conditions which can cause erectile dysfunction. Quitting smoking can be extremely difficult for many people. Fortunately, there are a number of aids that can help you reach your goal of becoming tobacco free including nicotine patches and gums that can help curb your urge to light up. Talk to your doctor for help in finding the right smoking cessation program for you.

Exercise Regularly

Regular exercise can improve blood flow, strengthen your heart, increase your stamina, reduce stress and anxiety, and benefit self image, all factors that help improve sexual function.

To get the most benefit from an exercise program, exercise at least 20 to 30 minutes a day, three days a week and build up from there. Workout with your partner for motivation and to increase the intimacy and closeness of your relationship.

Reduce Stress

While some stress is common for everyone, constant stress that leads to anxiety and even depression can have a negative impact on your overall health, sexual function and libido. Take steps to cope with and reduce stress in your life including regular exercise, maintaining a positive outlook, learning to relax, avoiding excessive use of alcohol and drugs, etc.
