Vasectomy Reversal vs. IVF

Sometimes when couples consult a fertility center or receive a referral through an OB/GYN, they are guided to consider In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) first instead of vasectomy reversal. For many patients, this can be confusing.

Not only is vasectomy reversal considerably less costly than IVF, if the female partner has no infertility issues, a vasectomy reversal saves a couple time and energy. It also provides the most natural and joyful way to conceive a child. Studies have shown that the cost of having a child through IVF typically is 2 to 3 times more expensive than vasectomy reversal.

One study, published in the Journal of Urology Clinics of North America, August 2009, called vasectomy reversal “the gold standard,” adding that it is the physician’s responsibility in this era of cost containment to present patients with all the options to help them arrive at an informed decision when advising them on infertility treatments.

In rare cases, couples may need to advance from a vasectomy reversal to IVF or other reproductive technologies; however, our goal at The Vasectomy Reversal Center of America is to do whatever we can to help you achieve your dream of conceiving a child naturally.
