About This Provider

Susan Tarry, M.D. is a reconstructive urologist with more than 13 years of urology experience. She specializes in complex reconstructive surgeries, including urethral stricture disease, robotic-assisted urinary diversion, and reconstruction of the kidney and ureter. Dr. Tarry also focuses on Peyronie’s disease and offers plaque excision and allograft surgeries for the most complex conditions, urinary fistulae, and repair of complications from transgender surgical procedures and ureteral re-implantation. She is one of a few urologists who has offered bloodless surgery for the care of patients’ surgical needs without the use of banked blood products. In addition, she has expertise in robotic surgery for prostate and kidney cancers and also has extensive experience with female pelvic disorders, erectile dysfunction, and penile implants.

Dr. Tarry is known for her kind bedside manner and compassion for patients. She was born in Maryland and graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University (WVU). She earned her medical degree from West Virginia University where she also completed her internship in general surgery and her urology residency. She furthered her urologic education with a matched fellowship from the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons in Texas, a program approved by the American Urological Association.

Prior to joining Chesapeake Urology, Dr. Tarry served as an Assistant Professor of urology at Hahnemann University Hospital and Drexel University. Previously, Dr. Tarry was an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMD) for more than six years. During that time, she practiced clinical urology and trained residents and medical students, and conducted research.

She was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Teacher Award from the Division of Urology, UTMB, and completed training in the Physician Leadership Academy.

Her interests include medical missions abroad, and she has received awards for her work in both Uganda, East Africa, and Chimbote, Peru, South America.

Dr. Tarry’s memberships include the American Urological Association and the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons.
