About This Provider

Dr. Kurnot treats all aspects of adult urology. His special interests focus on no-scalpel vasectomy, prostate cancer including percutaneous (non-surgical) cryosurgical ablation of the prostate for localized prostate cancer, and comprehensive treatments for advanced kidney stone conditions including percutaneous cryosurgery for large kidney stones.

He was the first physician in Washington, D.C. to perform percutaneous cryosurgical ablation, a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment of prostate cancer.

Dr. Kurnot has been practicing urology since 1994. He was Chief of Urology, Kimbrough Army Community Hospital at Ft. Meade, MD from 1994 to 1996, after which he began his private medical practice. He joined Chesapeake Urology Associates in December 2011. Dr. Kurnot served in the U.S. Army for 14 years. He was recognized for excellence by the Army for high levels of performance.

His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal Ribbon for contributions to Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm; the Outstanding Unit Citation for Public Health Service; the Flight Surgeons Badge; the Army Achievement Medal; and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal.
