Dr. Sharma is a comprehensive men’s health specialist with fellowship training in male infertility, sexual dysfunction, and reconstructive surgery. In addition to general urology, his practice is focused on men with urinary complaints related to the bladder, prostate, or urethra, erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, low testosterone, fertility concerns, and prostate cancer survivorship. He brings advanced training and expertise in contemporary treatments including no-scalpel vasectomy, Greenlight photo vaporization of the prostate, UroLift, penile injection and shockwave therapy, penile implants, artificial urinary sphincters and slings, urethral reconstruction, and microsurgical techniques including vasectomy reversal, varicocele repair, sperm extraction, and spermatic cord denervation.

Dr. Sharma joined Chesapeake Urology in August 2020. Dr. Sharma was born and raised in Montgomery County and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland with a degree in Bioengineering. He graduated with honors from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, then completed Urology Residency and Andrology Fellowship at the University of Virginia.

He has inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society while in medical school. In training, Dr. Sharma received an honorable mention for the Mullholland Teaching Award and was the winner of the American Urological Association’s National Chief Resident debate. He has received scholarships from the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, Global Surgical Expedition, and the University of Maryland.

Dr. Sharma has published numerous studies and reviews and has presented across the nation on topics including penile prosthesis placement, artificial urinary sphincters, improvement in semen parameters, treatment for low testosterone, education, and training for cryptorchidism, patient experience with urological specialists, and glutamine supplementation and renal health.

As an active member of the American Urological Association (AUA) and its Mid-Atlantic Section, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction (SSMR), the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SSMR), and the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons (SUPS), Dr. Sharma strives to provide cutting-edge and compassionate care for his patients and community.
