Dr. Patrick Whelan is a urologist who is fellowship-trained in Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, Endourology, and Metabolic Stone Disease. He specializes in the minimally invasive and robotic surgical treatment of urologic cancers, kidney stone disease, ureteral obstruction/ureteral stricture disease as well as men’s health conditions including BPH and erectile dysfunction (ED). Utilizing his extensive surgical training, Dr. Whelan also specializes in surgery for a variety of urologic conditions affecting the lower urinary tract. Additionally, Dr. Whelan focuses on the metabolic medical management of kidney stone disease, offering both minimally invasive surgical techniques to treat complex kidney stones as well as long-term management of stone disease.

Dr. Whelan completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Illinois, graduating Cum Laude with a major in Chemical Engineering. He attended medical school at Rush Medical College before completing an internship and urology residency at Rush University Medical Center, where he was named Chief Resident. From there, Dr. Whelan completed his fellowship training at Duke University.

His care philosophy includes treatment of the entire patient, emphasizing patient education on available treatment options, providing realistic expectations for therapy, and offering excellent surgical, medical, and follow-up care after treatment is completed.

Dr. Whelan is a member of several professional associations including the American Urological Society, the Endourology Society, and Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society
