Dr. Mendez is fellowship-trained from one of the top programs in the nation in sexual dysfunction, genital reconstructive surgery, andrology, and male infertility. She specializes in comprehensive erectile dysfunction management, penile prosthetics, male & female sexual dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, testosterone replacement therapy, male infertility, microscopic surgery, male & female stress urinary incontinence, and male pelvic pain and testicular pain. Dr. Mendez also has interests in stone disease, BPH, overactive bladder, hematuria, and non-invasive bladder cancer.

Dr. Mendez joined Chesapeake Urology in August 2019. She received her medical degree from The University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed her residency in urologic surgery at Duke University Hospital before completing her fellowship in sexual dysfunction, genital reconstructive surgery, andrology, and male infertility with Dr. Rafael Carrion at the University of South Florida. She also received a Fulbright Grant and trained in China for one year, studying traditional Chinese medicine. Prior to starting her medical training, Dr. Mendez worked at the Center for Biologics Research and Evaluation in immunology and at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine as a researcher.

Dr. Mendez has published numerous articles, book chapters and presented across the nation at conferences on topics including incontinence and sexual function, surgical techniques for Peyronie’s disease, management of priapism, advanced imaging, stone disease, and implementing quality improvement initiatives.

Her awards in science and medicine include the Fulbright Grant, a full academic scholarship to medical school, the Rodney Appell Traveling Preceptorship Award for female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery, and the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction Traveling Fellowship Award from the American Urologic Association.

Dr. Mendez is a member of the Society of Urologic Prosthetic Surgeons, the Society of Sexual Medicine North America, the American Urological Association, and the Society of Women in Urology.
